Elderly Affairs Committee - Opening Messages
Chairman
朱革寧
Appointed General Advisor to the Elderly Affairs Committee
Elderly care services in Hong Kong have evolved rapidly from nothing in the late 70s and early 80s to over 600 private residential care homes today, benefiting more than 60,000 seniors. With over 800,000 residents aged 65 or above, population aging is a significant social phenomenon, a major entrepreneurial opportunity, and a profound manifestation of humanitarian power.
I am delighted to welcome a group of high-quality care home operators to join our alliance and establish the "Elderly Affairs Committee," collaborating and growing alongside other SME sectors.
The Committee will not only serve the local elderly sector but also focus on academic exchange, facility management, and training with Mainland China, while engaging with global elderly care systems. I believe the Committee will elevate the industry to new heights.
Founder
陳邦彥 女士
After twenty years in elderly care, I find myself entering my senior years as well. During a casual conversation, Mr. Chu Kak Ning and I shared a vision...
Hong Kong has established a robust elderly care mechanism supported by mature 'software' (operational expertise), which gives me peace of mind about my own future. As the elderly care sector in Mainland China begins to take off, its vast land and resources are in perfect need of this proven expertise. Given the cramped living conditions in Hong Kong, retiring back to the Mainland is becoming an inevitable trend. Furthermore, integration should go beyond institutional care; the ideal direction lies in enhancing seniors' spiritual well-being and supporting aging-in-place. Global aging is compelling the industry to align with international standards, with Taiwan and Japan serving as prime benchmarks for us to learn from.
Cross-industry development has opened a 'Golden Road' for us: we require the support of scholars, lawyers, and accountants, as well as providers of elderly products, apparel, footwear, and expertise from all walks of life. With that vision in mind, we took immediate action...
- Jan 16, 2008: Visited Mr. Leung Wai-hong of Benevolent Light to collect five books and two papers on social service quality standards.
- Feb 19, 2008: Attended a Legislative Council meeting to provide supplementary data on shortening the waiting list for elderly care beds.
- Early March: Successfully established the committee with Wong Kam-wong as Chairperson.
Let us work together to create a new world for the elderly. Thank you for your support! Wish you health and peace!
Chairperson
黃金旺
With an aging population and increasing life expectancy, the proportion of seniors aged 65+ is expected to rise from 1/8 to 1/4 by 2030—meaning one in four Hongkongers will be a senior. Developing elderly care is both a vital mission and a stern challenge.
In light of the current state of elderly care services, the SMEGL Elderly Affairs Committee remains steadfast in embracing these challenges, with the well-being of seniors as our ultimate goal. We are dedicated to excellence in our services and strive to reach new heights in the care we provide.
The Elderly Affairs Committee is composed of dedicated private residential care home operators who have united their peers to collectively develop Hong Kong’s elderly care sector, aiming for a multi-win outcome and fruitful achievements. Our industry peers share a strong desire to see the perfection of elderly care policies in Mainland China and the integration of international service standards. Together, we empower various care homes in Hong Kong to move forward in unison, creating a comprehensive service model where the elderly can truly be well-supported and cared for.
To encourage active participation among seniors, the Association is planning a "Hong Kong Seniors Orchestra" and will bring cultural performances to care homes. We will also document the precious life stories of seniors into a book to serve as a guide for the younger generation. By promoting "Elderly Culture"—including travel, products, and fashion—we aim to boost their self-confidence and sense of pride.
I represent the Executive Committee in sincerely welcoming criticism and guidance from all sectors. Finally, my thanks to the SMEGL leadership and all friendly partners for your support.
Ecommerce & Logistics Committee

Vision
Use the SME Global Alliance as a platform to help Hong Kong entrepreneurs to access funds and geographical advantages, identify high-quality entrepreneurs, create business opportunities, and establish partnerships to enter the world stage.

To provide the latest business information at any time, strengthen business channels, and cope with global integration and rapid geopolitical changes.
